Bengals finish 9th in 18 team sectional

The Bengal Golf Team finished 9th in the tough Division II Sectional at Quail Hollow Devlin Course on a cool but dry day in Northeast Ohio. Mike Cappello and Dan Wasinski each carded an 84, Sean Corbus entered an 86, Ante Vranic had a 100 and Joe Corcoran a 101.

The Bengals posted a team total of 354. Below is a list of teams that finished better than the Bengals.

This is the best golf the Bengals played as a team all year. Although the regular season is over, we will still play a match at Cantebury sometime in early October. Thanks to all for a great season.

Monday September 24 is the Sectional Golf Tournament at Quail Hollow
Golfers will be out of school again. I must determine the 5 players who will compete by the 19th. I will tell you individually.

We are set to go to CANTEBURY and play Lake Catholic on OCTOBER 10th. This will be after the season but its CANTEBURY. All golfers will be invited at this time.

The Bengal golf team edged Trinity on Wednesday 9/12 by 2 shots. Dan Wasinski and Mike Cappello shared low scores for the Bengals. Wasinski and Cappello gave the Bengals a two shot lead with 2 remaining scores to count. Sean Corbus, Ante Vranic and Joe Corcoran hung on and beat their perspective golfers to seal the win.

On 9/4 12 the Bengals were edged by VASJ at Briardale. The score was 167-174. Junior Dan Wasinski was the medalist with a 34. Wasinski's 34 was the lowest round by a Bengal since Greg Elber shot a 33 in the 2007 season. Dan could have used  better support as none of the other Bengals broke 45.

The match vs. Lake Catholic will be temporarilly postponed until arrangements can be made to play at Cantebury sometime in October.

The Bengals were defeated by Padua on Thursday at The Weymouth Club 157 - 188. Junior Sean Corbus was the low scorer for the Bengals, with a 44.

Next week the Bengals travel to Briardale Greens on Tuesday 8/5 to take on VASJ.

Bengals were defeated by Beachwood & Hawken in a tri-match at Highland Hills GC. Beachwood 160; Hawken 169; Benedictine 179. Dan Wasinski was low scorer for the Bengals with a 38.
